The magic bean lady, never to be found again

Both thinkCHUA and I loved these delicious beans served hot with a white goo on top.  I wish I could give you a more articulate description of this dessert, but I am unsure what all was in it.  Enter wikipedia, Che is a sweet dessert beverage or pudding usually made from beans and sticky rice. Many varieties of chè are available, each with different fruits, beans (for example, mung beans or kidney beans), and other ingredients. Chè can be served cold or hot.  We really enjoyed this dish as I mentioned, but because it was sold by a street vendor that didn’t have a specific street stall location we only enjoyed these once and have not found them since.  We have found che in other variations, but not in the form we fell in love with on the streets of Hoi An.

Donna, thanks for all the comments, it is so much fun to hear what others think of the site. Definitely try making the beans sometime, it will be tough to get Dad to try them though.

I had that stuff! I found a different version in the depths of the market, where the ladies make shrimp cakes. I didn’t know what it was called, just that it had beans and go and part of it was pink :-)
