Staying in Shape on The Road

Being active has always been important for me and staying in shape will be essential on the road to be able to do all the things we want to do.  I am a certified yoga instructor and have run several marathons, but when I’m travelling I don’t always take the time to stay fit.  So, this article will serve as a reminder to myself to make fitness a priority and keep me accountable to working out while on the road.  I know we will be walking a lot each day and carrying all of our belongings on our back, but my work out routine has always been about taking time for myself as well.

With all the walking and trekking we will be doing I don’t think running will be a huge appeal on the road, so I will be sticking with yoga.  This 20-minute beginning yoga routine will not only help me to take time for myself while I travel, but will increase my flexibility, strength, and vibrancy.  You don’t have to be travelling to use this routine, so try it at home.

When performing this routine, breathe slowly and evenly through your nose.

This routine was adapted from a routine found on Yoga Journal’s website and was created by famous yogi John Friend.  Yoga Journal is a great resource for all things yoga or for you to create your own yoga sequence.
