Street Art in Buenos Aires

Street Art in Buenos Aires

If these walls could talk…you hear the phrase all the time, but in Buenos Aires it’s as if the walls do talk.  The art that adorns the brick facades of every building in the city tells a story. The story of local and international artists that have made the enchanting city of Buenos Aires their home and the streets their studio.

I fell in love with the Argentine capital in large part due to the vibrant colors and brilliant murals that make the entire city feel like an art museum.  A really hip and ever changing museum of the best of Buenos Aires street artists.  It’s hard to pick a favorite neighborhood in the city and when it comes to street art it can be found everywhere. I loved rounding a corner and discovering a whole new mural for the first time.

The wide array of styles, themes and colors on display is staggering.  From robots to beautifully inscribed words.  A walk through the streets will inspire your creative side and get you thinking. What did the artist want to say?  Is this a political message?  What is the story they are telling?  Oh, if only these walls could talk:

This very alien figure, growing something seemingly natural in the palm of her hand was one of my favorite pieces, found in the Palermo neighborhood.

I love this zebra and it was as if the artist set up the shot for me with the matching blue motorcycle.

I love the colors in this mural and the bright yellow third eye on the forehead.

I love the colors of this piece and the combination of stencil work and paint.

Amor es Vida, love is life.  It seems nowhere is that more true than in Buenos Aires.

This detailed fly with his digital watch caught my eye from across the street and upon closer inspection was blown away by the detail.

WHEN YOU GO:

Take your camera and an extra battery, there is so much interesting street art you will want to make sure you have your camera in tow with extra batteries.
