The Slackline King of Brazil

The Slackline King of Brazil

.

When I see tight rope walking in photos I think I could do it myself.  I am kidding myself, I couldn’t.  In fact, I couldn’t even look over the edge of a real “highline”.  The men were separated from the boys when the line went up over 800 feet above Rio de Jainero.

.

.

“That’s nuts!” is all I could think when I saw our host in Rio go up on the line.  When the “Slackline King”of Brazil, who is a friend-of-a-friend, agreed to host us for Carnival we saw photos like this on his facebook page.  The photos were hard to believe, the reality was even harder to comprehend.

.

.

Helping tighten up the line…that’s as close as I am coming to doing this myself…

.

.

Gideao, our host and professional slackline/highliner, made it look easy.  When one of his students tried it the reality hit as he fell, it’s hard, and falling definintely hurts.

.

.

Think you’re up for this yourself?  Gideao is an experienced teacher of slackline, highline and rock climbing.  The caveat is that you’ll need to do it in Portuguese if you’re interested contact us and we’ll put you in touch.   If you think this is impressive check out his TV show where he makes this look like child’s play.
